Hi there, I’m Jay (/dʒeɪ/).
I’m glad you found your way here.
It really means a lot to me that you're taking the time to look through my photos.
Thanks for being curious – and for being here.
I take photos, not as a job or a big artistic project, but because sometimes I see something I don’t want to lose. A shadow, a certain kind of light, a moment that feels like something I might forget if I don’t catch it.
I don’t think too much about technical perfection. Most of the time, I just have my camera with me, and I shoot when something pulls me in. It’s often more about a feeling than a subject, something quiet, a bit distant maybe, but somehow familiar. The photos that end up meaning the most to me aren’t always the sharpest or cleanest. But they carry a kind of atmosphere, a trace of something I couldn’t say in words.
Taking photos has also become a way for me to remember, not just where I’ve been, but how it felt to be there. I tend to forget things easily, especially the emotional parts of moments. Looking at a photo brings me back. It helps me hold on to something that otherwise might fade.
This site is just a place to gather those fragments. Some are from far away, some from home, some from the quiet corners of a concert. They don’t have much in common, except maybe a certain kind of stillness, or longing. And maybe that’s enough.
Maybe something here resonates with you. Maybe it doesn’t. Either way, that’s okay.
Take your time.
I hope something lingers.
If you ever feel like saying hi, asking about prints, or just sharing a thought, feel free to reach out. Either via the contact form or at hello@dzei.me. I’d love to hear from you.
